ARTIST PROFILE

Cookie Campbell is the creator and artist of Paracosmic Monsters, making bespoke objects of affection character collectables. Each Monster is carefully created with their own hand written life story. Often shaped by precious found objects, antique dolls eyes and upcycled materials that are a part of their DNA. They are all part of the ‘Pure Monster Family’, each bearing the genetics of the generation before, yet unique in their own special way.

“This collection of Paracosmic Monsters is the result of drawing inspiration from rediscovering my Thai hertiage and the mythical Himaphan forest. Exploring a contempory approach to Thai folklore. Weaving the influence of the spirit world and nature, bringing each character to life.”

In 2007, Cookie graduated from Central Saint Martins with a Bachelor of Art in Textile Design. She spent the following years in Europe as a luxury shoe and bag designer, simultaneously honing her art towards character creation. In 2013, she was selected by Pictoplasma as one of the top emerging international character designers, exhibiting her monsters at the 10th anniversary Pictoplasma Character Conference in Berlin. Raised between New Zealand and Thailand and having lived in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Berlin, Florence, Mallorca, she now resides in Phuket. Cookie’s involvement with Khom Kholab represents a part of the international creative wave coming out of Thailand today.
